What is ghostwriting?

You have an idea. It could be for a business book, a self-help guide or memoir. But you are not a professional writer or do not have time to write it yourself. As your ghostwriter, I help you share your story.

What is ghostwriting?

Why use a ghostwriter?

Anyone can use a ghostwriter. Most nonfiction books are written by ghostwriters, or heavily edited by professional editors. Writing a book is a specialist skill and there is no shame in admitting if it is not your forte. Your expertise simply lies elsewhere, likely in the topic of your next book. Using a ghostwriter can help you share your knowledge and insights with readers in a more engaging and relatable way.

Publishers like working with authors who use ghostwriters. We make better books, that appeal to the target readership and are genre appropriate. Hiring a ghostwriter is a win-win for everyone.

How to write a book, in 4 steps

 Interviews

I will ask you questions that draw out the knowledge, experiences, and opinions that will form the basis of your book. I will also be learning more about you. Your likes and viewpoints. The way you think and express yourself. This will help me mimic your unique voice, so I can write something that is true to you, and that you are comfortable claiming as your own.

My online interviews are very relaxed. Think of them as a chance to put your feet up with a cuppa and discuss a topic you enjoy.  If you want, you can share written notes or research with me as well.

01

Book Outline

Strong planning can be the difference between a mediocre book and a great one. Your manuscript needs to be well structured if readers are to understand and enjoy it, so I construct a narrative that builds progressively throughout your book, taking your reader on a journey of insight and discovery from the first page to the last.

I will work with you to identify the unique hook for your book that will captivate your readers. Then I will create you a detailed book outline, complete with a chapter-by-chapter breakdown.

02

First Draft

Now I can start writing your manuscript. This is the part of the process which takes the longest, but I will send you a timeline of what to expect and when. The first thing you will receive is your introductory chapter. This is your opportunity to  check I have your unique voice spot on and suggest any changes in tone or style you want included in the rest of the book.

Once you are happy,  I will go away and write the rest of your manuscript. I can either share chapters with you as we go or a complete first draft, whichever you prefer.

03

Book Editing

It is now time for the editing and revisions phase to begin. You can offer feedback and request as many edits as you want to your first draft and I will  weave them seamlessly into your manuscript. If I think any of your suggestions will affect the flow, structure, or reader experience I will talk it over with you so we can decide what to do for the best.

Once we are both satisfied, I will send your manuscript to an external proofreader for one final check. A fresh pair of expert eyes so to speak, to spot anything we might have missed.
